(Network Marketers) This copywriting mistake might be costing you sales

Copywriting can be very intimidating to some people. Maybe you grew up being told that you were a bad writer, didn’t do well in your English classes, and now it makes you just try to avoid writing as much as possible. Trust me, it’s not just you. This is a very common problem and why copywriters like myself exist!

A selling point for many network marketing companies is that they promote doing some of the work for you like providing you with graphics to share and fact sheets to copy and paste. That way you don’t have to do it yourself and it can take some of the fear out of joining the company. Some upline organizations also provide resources like this, but here’s where it goes wrong…

The problem

When someone follows a company page, they expect to be sold to, but when someone follows a friend’s page, they don’t have this same expectation. If you’re looking to buy a new socks, you go to Target, not your friend’s social media page, right?

So even though the company provides these resources for you, it sounds like it’s coming straight from corporate which typically is not very warm, friendly, or conversational. It feels more like a hard sell with a bunch of facts and a call-to-action to buy now. This turns people off when it’s coming from someone they consider a friend because they know it’s not genuine. It’s not how you talk in daily life.

The solution

The key is to take their information and transform it into something that sounds like you, but if you don’t have any experience in writing or have considered yourself to be a bad writer for most of your life, it’s a major roadblock.

After seeing some truly cringey posts on social media, I was inspired to create product and company-specific content calendars. I’ve worked with some top leaders in various network marketing companies and on occasion am a customer myself. I knew I could help distributors sell more of their favorite products by creating ready-to-publish posts. You can find current content calendars under the “shop” tab here on my website!
