Social News You May Have Missed (August 25, 2021)

YouTube rolled out a dark mode and added new hashtag usage insights! In short, now your YouTube channel can be a bit easier on the eyes and you can see how many videos use a hashtag.

LinkedIn added reviews and ratings for Profiles which have added services listings.
This is a great way for your current and previous clients/customers to publicly review your work.

Facebook is making a pivot in their privacy.
They are developing a way to deliver targeted ads without knowing information about the person they are showing the ad to. Sound complex and confusing? I’m sure it is. This new strategy is still in infancy so there’s much to be worked out before we will see the affects.

Instagram is testing ads in the Instagram shop tab.
Not all accounts have this shop tab yet.

TikTok is adding more safety features for teens including no notifications after 9pm!
How great is this?!

Instagram’s anti-hate feature lets you limit comments and requests on popular posts.
“The new Limits feature, available starting today, will allow all users to hide comments and DM requests from users who either don’t follow them or only recently started following them. On top of that, the app will issue “an even stronger warning” and halt posting immediately if someone tries to publish an offensive content — rather than waiting for a repeat offense as before.”

TikTok was named the most downloaded app in 2020.
I’m not surprised.

Twitter has added new raised hand emojis to signal questions in Spaces.
Not sure what Spaces is? It’s an audio-meeting room within Twitter. It’s still in development. It would be comparable to Clubhouse and this new emoji allows people to signal that they have a question or would like to talk.
